The Agilent/Keysight 8620C Sweeper Mainframe is a swept-signal source platform designed to operate with 86200 Series plug-in RF modules for RF testing and characterization. The mainframe provides multiple sweep modes—Full Sweep, Marker Sweep, ΔF Sweep, and CW—with three markers for frequency identification and trigger options including Auto, Line, and External. A front panel band-select lever controls up to four frequency bands and their associated scales.
– Technical Specifications
Frequency programming is available via analog control (standard) or optional HP-IB (IEEE 488) digital interface for remote automation. Digital programming delivers 10,000-point CW resolution over the band of interest. The mainframe supports internal 1 kHz AM modulation with external AM and FM capability dependent on the RF unit, plus phase-lock operation. RF blanking automatically gates RF output off during retrace and holds it until the next sweep start when enabled.
Sweep output appears at a front panel BNC connector as a direct-coupled sawtooth signal coincident with the RF output. A display output provides a direct-coupled rectangular pulse at approximately -5.0 volts, timed with RF blanking. Pen-lift output is available for compatibility with positive-supply X-Y recorders.
– Key Features
• Four selectable frequency bands with individual scales
• Three independent markers (START, STOP, CW) for precise frequency control
• Flexible sweep triggering: Auto, Line, and External modes
• Optional HP-IB interface (Option 011) for digital frequency programming and system integration
• Direct sweep and display outputs for recorder and measurement system connection
• Phase-lock and modulation capabilities (internal AM, external AM/FM)
– Typical Applications
Microwave system characterization, network analyzer integration, automated RF measurement setups, and frequency response testing where stable swept-signal generation is required.
– Compatibility & Integration
Compatible with 86200 Series plug-in RF modules and network analyzer systems including the 8410B/8411A. The optional HP-IB interface supports SH0, AH1, T0, L2, SR0, RL2, PP0, DC0, DT0, C0, E1 functions for remote control and frequency programming.
