The Rohde & Schwarz NAS is a microprocessor-controlled directional power meter for accurate forward and reflected power measurement, plus SWR determination across 1 MHz to 2000 MHz. Its modular architecture uses interchangeable insertion units—each with embedded calibration data—to address applications from shortwave radio through GSM and modern digital networks. The meter displays forward/reflected power or forward power/SWR simultaneously, with ±1.5% accuracy (plus insertion unit error limit) over the 18°C to 28°C operating band. Temperature excursions incur ≤0.25% rdg/°C additional error. Insertion units connect directly to the meter or via 1.5 m cable for remote test points, all terminating in 50 Ω N female connectors. Five insertion units span 1 MHz to 2000 MHz and power ranges from 0.01 W to 1200 W: the NAS-Z1 covers 1–30 MHz at 0.01–120 W; NAS-Z2 extends to 0.1–1200 W; NAS-Z5 reaches 70–1000 MHz; NAS-Z6 targets GSM at 0.01–100 W with peak envelope power (PEP) measurement; NAS-Z7 serves GSM bands 890–960 MHz and 1710–1990 MHz at 0.01–30 W (to 100 W), with usable performance to 2000 MHz at relaxed error limits. The meter activates auto-shutoff approximately 1 hour after the last keystroke. Operating temperature range is 0°C to 50°C. A carrying bag accommodates a second insertion unit and accessories.
