The Abaco Systems/Ramix PMC677TX is a quad-port Gigabit Ethernet interface module in PMC form factor, delivering four independent 10/100/1000BaseT connections with full-duplex operation on each channel. Built around Intel 82546 Ethernet MACs and an IBM21P100 PCI bridge, the card integrates dedicated DMA engines and 64KB deep FIFO buffers per port to sustain full 1000Mbit bandwidth with minimal host CPU overhead. Advanced hardware offloading capabilities include packet filtering based on checksum errors, SNMP and RMON statistics collection, and TCP checksum computation in silicon. The PMC677TX supports jumbo frames and flexible address filtering: 16 exact-match slots for unicast or multicast, a 4096-bit hash filter for multicast frames, and promiscuous modes. Two units can be direct-cabled via crossover to establish dedicated 1000Mbit full-duplex links between systems. The module plugs into PCI-X or standard PCI 64-bit/66MHz slots with 3.3V signaling and operates with RJ-45 copper transceivers. Device drivers are supplied for VxWorks, Linux, LynxOS, Windows NT, and Solaris environments. Optional polyurethane or acrylic conformal coating and RoHS-compliant variants are available.
