The Abaco Systems / VMIC VMIVME-5550-010 is a Reflective Memory Interface card for VMEbus systems enabling deterministic, high-speed data sharing across multiple processors and chassis. Data written to memory in one node automatically broadcasts and writes to memory across all networked nodes, eliminating software overhead and optimizing CPU and bus utilization.
– Technical Specifications
Network Architecture
• Multidrop VME-to-VME network topology
• Up to 16 independent VMEbus nodes (systems)
• Two 64-conductor twist-n-flat ribbon cables for interconnection
• Maximum cable length: 1,000 ft
Data Transfer Performance
• 20 Mbyte/s (longword accesses) @ 50 ft cable
• 10 Mbyte/s (word accesses)
• 5 Mbyte/s (byte accesses)
• Transmit and Receive FIFOs (512 Transfer or 4 Kbyte options) buffer peak-rate data
Memory Configuration
• On-board SDRAM: 256 Kbyte to 4 Mbyte
• Selectable options: 256 Kbyte, 512 Kbyte, 1 Mbyte, 2 Mbyte, 4 Mbyte
Interrupt Capability
• Three-level, user-definable interrupts
• Any processor generates VMEbus interrupts across chassis boundaries
• Interrupts follow data transfer to ensure reception before acknowledgment
• Enables real-time synchronization and data-readiness notification
