The Abaco Systems / VMIC VMIVME-5588-210 is a high-speed fiber-optic reflective memory board for VMEbus systems that enables deterministic, real-time data sharing across distributed processing nodes. Data written to the board’s memory is automatically reflected to all connected nodes, creating a software-transparent shared memory environment with minimal CPU overhead. Operating at 1.2 Gbaud serial link speed, the board delivers sustained data transfer rates up to 29.5 Mbyte/s (non-redundant) or 14.8 Mbyte/s (redundant mode with error detection). It supports up to 256 nodes across extended distances: 10 km via single-mode fiber, 1,000 ft via multimode fiber, or 30 m via twinax cable.
