The Acterna MMS-4301 is a portable test module for CDMA cellular network installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Part of the Acterna 4300 Series, this compact unit delivers comprehensive analysis and signal generation across CDMA2000 1xRTT, IS-95, analog AMPS, and NAMPS standards. Three operating modes—Manual, QuickTest, and AutoTest—support field technicians and automated test environments.
– Technical Specifications
The MMS-4301 covers 800 MHz and 1900 MHz bands with dual-band handoff capability. CDMA modulation employs QPSK with residual rho exceeding 0.97 and carrier feedthrough below -30 dBc. The analyzer delivers 10 kHz frequency resolution and ±10 Hz accuracy relative to the OCXO timebase, with waveform quality rho measurements ranging 0.90 to 1.0 (±0.003 accuracy) and timing accuracy of 60 ns.
Power measurement spans -60 dBm to +40 dBm input, with ±0.65 dB accuracy at 25°C and ±1.2 dB across the 10°C to 40°C operating range. AWGN generation provides +5 to -10 dB adjustment relative to CDMA channel power at 0.1 dB resolution with ±1 dB accuracy.
External CDMA signal interfaces accept 10 MHz reference and even second clock inputs, outputting even second clock derivatives (chip ×16, ×8, ×4, chip, PN clock) plus 20 ms, 80 ms, and 1.25 ms signals.
– Key Features
• Single-button QuickTest mode for Go/NoGo screening
• Code domain graph displays rho measurements (dB) per Walsh code with current selection and numeric values
• GPIB (IEEE 488) and RS-232 remote control for system integration
• Parallel printer port for direct documentation
• Compact footprint: 7.25″ H × 17.75″ W × 20.50″ D (39–49 lbs)
– Operating Environment
Operates 10°C to 40°C, 10–75% RH non-condensing. Universal AC input 85–264 VAC, 47–440 Hz, 5A maximum. Storage rated -20°C to 70°C.
– Compatibility & Integration
Supports CDMA2000 1xRTT, IS-95, analog AMPS, and NAMPS. Dual-band variants (MMS-4302 for 800 MHz; MMS-4303 for 1900 MHz US/Korean PCS) enable cross-band measurement and handoff testing.
