The Ando AQ4321A is a tunable laser source spanning 1480–1580 nm, engineered for precise wavelength selection and stable optical output in DWDM system testing and component characterization. Absolute wavelength accuracy of ±15 pm (typical ±10 pm) and wavelength stability of ±0.01 MHz/h enable reliable measurement of dense wavelength division multiplexed networks. A precision motor controls an optical grating at sub-micron resolution, delivering 0.001 nm wavelength set resolution and continuous sweep capability at 100 nm/sec. Internal gas cell absorption calibration ensures traceable, absolute wavelength accuracy across the C-band and extended L-band. Optical output reaches +10 dBm typical at 1550 nm with ±0.01 dB stability and ±0.04 dB reproducibility. Side mode suppression exceeds 50 dB. Automatic power control and photodetector monitoring maintain output level flatness within ±0.1 dB. The instrument connects via FC/PC connectors to single-mode fiber (10/125 µm) and offers full remote control through GPIB or RS-232C interfaces. A 6.4-inch color LCD display and compact 20 kg chassis support laboratory and field deployment. Operating range is +10 to +35°C.
