The Astronics/EADS/Racal 1260-700 is a prototyping I/O plug-in module for the Adapt-a-Switch platform, enabling rapid custom circuit development and testing. It provides 88 bidirectional TTL I/O lines, individually configurable as inputs or outputs in 8-bit port groups. The module supports asynchronous, synchronous, and mixed synchronous operating modes with two-wire programmable handshaking (active high or active low). Data rate on VXIbus systems reaches 200 kHz.
## Technical Specifications
• **Digital I/O:** 88 TTL lines, configurable per 8-bit port
• **Operating Modes:** Asynchronous, synchronous, and mixed synchronous
• **Handshaking:** Two-wire programmable, selectable active high/low
• **Data Rate (VXIbus):** 200 kHz
• **Power Supply:** Fused +5 VDC; when in carrier, fused +12 V and +24 V available
• **Prototyping Area:** 0.1 × 0.1-inch grid card with ground bus and two uncommitted buses (jumper-configurable to internal or external supply)
## Key Features
• Open-architecture design permits substitution of custom plug-in boards for specialized applications (ADCs, DACs, switch cards)
• Individual port-level I/O configuration without module redesign
• Two uncommitted buses support flexible breadboarding and power routing
• Blank front panel with options for 64-pin IDC or 160-pin DIN connector cutouts
• Includes prototyping kit with card, interface connector, and panel hardware
## Typical Applications
• Custom signal conditioning and routing
• Prototype analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion stages
• User-defined switching matrices and test point multiplexing
• Flexible I/O expansion in modular test systems
## Compatibility & Integration
The 1260-700 integrates with the Adapt-a-Switch VXIbus Carrier (Model 1260-100) or the 1256 GPIB Switching Mainframe. VXIplug&play framework support includes drivers for LabWindows/CVI and LabVIEW on Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP. Operating altitude to 10,000 ft; non-operating to 15,000 ft.
