Equipment info

The California Instruments 850T is a precision AC power source designed for a wide array of testing and simulation applications. This unit functions as a variable frequency oscillator, deriving its power from associated Invertron® AC Power Sources. It is engineered to provide precise frequency and amplitude control, making it suitable for applications requiring operator input for these parameters. The 850T is specifically designed to integrate with Invertron® AC Power Sources, acting as a control module that generates the drive signals for the power amplifiers. Its digital synthesis and crystal-controlled reference ensure stable and accurate frequency generation.

### Technical Specifications

**Frequency Generation and Control:**
* **Frequency Synthesis:** Digitally synthesized with a crystal-controlled oscillator as a reference.
* **Frequency Ranges:** Three selectable frequency ranges:
* X1 Range: 0.01 Hz to 99.99 Hz, with a resolution of 0.01 Hz.
* X10 Range: 0.1 Hz to 999.9 Hz, with a resolution of 0.1 Hz.
* X100 Range: 1 Hz to 9999 Hz, with a resolution of 1 Hz.
* Note: Some sources indicate a frequency range from 45 Hz to 9999 Hz.
* **Frequency Resolution:** As fine as 0.01 Hz.
* **Frequency Accuracy:** ±0.005% of set frequency. Some sources cite 0.001% frequency accuracy.
* **Frequency Stability:**
* ±0.02% for 24 hours at 23°C.
* Average temperature coefficient: ±5 ppm/°C or ±0.01% per °C.
* Maximum variation over 0 to 55°C range is approximately 0.0125%.
* **Frequency Adjustment:** Four front-panel decade dials for precise adjustment.
* **Out-of-Limit Shutdown:** The unit shuts down if the selected frequency is outside factory-set limits to protect associated power sources.
* **Soft Start Feature:** Gradually increases output amplitude from zero to the set level upon turn-on or after an out-of-limit frequency shutdown.

**Amplitude Control:**
* **Amplitude Adjustment:** Front panel control for varying output level.
* **Output Level Range:** 0 to 5.0 volts.
* **Amplitude Stability:**
* ±0.02% for 24 hours at 23°C.
* ±0.001% per °C.
* **Remote Amplitude Control:** Optional remote programming via voltage or resistance is available.

**Output Characteristics:**
* **Total Harmonic Distortion (THD):**
* <0.5% from 45 Hz to 5 KHz. * 0.3% max. on X100 range of 850T and on 855T. * 0.15% on other ranges at full output. * <0.02% per °C. * **Frequency Response:** ±1% from 45 Hz to 5 KHz at unity power factor. ±0.5 dB from 45 Hz to 5 KHz. * **AC Noise Level:** ±0.5 dB from 45 Hz to 5 KHz. * **Overload and Short Circuit Protection:** Provided with automatic reset when the overload is removed.**Phase Characteristics (for multi-phase configurations):** * **Phase Accuracy:** * Two-Phase: 90° ±1° from 45 Hz to 5 KHz; ±2° from 5 KHz to 10 KHz. * Three-Phase Delta: 60° ±1° from 45 Hz to 5 KHz; ±2° from 5 KHz to 10 KHz (Phase C leading Phase A). * Three-Phase Wye: 120° ±1° from 45 Hz to 5 KHz; ±2° from 5 KHz to 10 KHz (Phase C leading Phase A). * 1° typical (multi-phase). * **Electrical Angle Between Phases:** Remains constant irrespective of frequency due to digital techniques.**Electrical:** * **Power Requirements:** Operates from +25 VDC and -25 VDC at 0.040 amperes, and requires 115 VAC at 10 VA. These are typically supplied by an associated Invertron® power source. * **Input Power:** Approximately 950 watts maximum under worst-case line and full rated load conditions. Peak transient during turn-on may exceed 1500 watts.**Interfaces:** * **Front Panel Controls:** Decade dials for frequency selection and an amplitude control. * **Optional Remote Controls:** Remote amplitude control (RPR, RPV) and remote servo sense (RSS) are available.**Physical:** * **Form Factor:** Standard plug-in size compatible with all Invertron® AC Power Supplies. * **Dimensions:** Standard plug-in size for Invertron® AC Power Supplies. * **Front Panel Finish:** Gray, Federal Standard 595 with black silk-screened lettering.**Compatibility:** * **Invertron® AC Power Sources:** Designed to plug into and derive power from Invertron® AC Power Sources. The output of the oscillator provides the input frequency and amplitude drive for the power source. * **Multi-Phase Systems:** Can be configured with optional circuit boards for two- or three-phase outputs. Phases can be set to any 30-degree increment relative to the reference phase. Can be stacked with other power amplifiers to generate higher output power. * **Extender Assembly:** An Extender Assembly (Part No. 4800-703) is available for testing and adjustment outside of the associated power source.### Why Choose Aumictech for California Instruments 850T?
