The Curtiss-Wright/VMETRO EXERBAT-C is a protocol checker and exerciser for validating and debugging communication protocols in CompactPCI (cPCI) environments. It generates bus traffic under user control, checks protocol adherence to standards, and emulates planned but unavailable boards for hardware and software validation. Control is available through a Windows-based GUI (BusView™) via USB or RS232, or through a built-in terminal interface via RS232.
## Technical Specifications
• **Protocol Checking:** Validates communication protocol compliance with CompactPCI standards and specifications
• **Bus Traffic Generation:** Programmable commands and burst lengths for automated testing and board emulation
• **Control Interface:** USB and RS232 connectivity to BusView™ GUI; RS232 terminal interface
• **Target Memory:** 8 MB at user-defined base address
• **Power Source:** CompactPCI bus powered
## Key Features
• Master and Target emulation with DMA capabilities
• Script engine for automated task execution
• Real-time parameter editing of registers, memory, and data structures
• PCI Configuration Scan function
• Exerciser functionality for testing multiple scenarios under user control
## Typical Applications
• Hardware validation and debugging
• Software testing and protocol verification
• System-level validation in cPCI platforms
• Manufacturing automated test sequences
• Emulation of unavailable board designs during development
## Compatibility & Integration
The EXERBAT-C integrates with VMETRO PBT-515 and PBTM-515 analysis tools to form a complete Protocol Analyzer/Exerciser/Checker (PBAT) solution. It operates within CompactPCI environments and connects to Windows-based control software for full parameter manipulation and test execution.
