The Agilent/HP 34905A is a dual 1:4 RF multiplexer module engineered for broadband signal routing in the 34970A and 34972A Data Acquisition/Switch Units. It provides 50 Ohm switching capability up to 2 GHz, enabling seamless connection of high-frequency and pulsed test signals between devices under test and instrumentation such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
– Technical Specifications
Module Configuration
• Dual independent 1×4 multiplexer banks
• 50 Ohm impedance
• Usable bandwidth: up to 2 GHz with direct SMB connections; up to 1 GHz with SMB-to-BNC adapter cables
• Each bank features a common shield, switched center conductor, and tree-structured channel arrangement for high isolation and low VSWR
• Both banks share common earth ground
Switching Operation
• Only one channel per bank closes at a time; closing a new channel automatically opens the previous selection
• One channel in each bank is always connected to the common (COM) terminal
• Channel opening is accomplished by closing an alternate channel within the same bank
Connectors & Adapters
• On-board SMB (SubMiniature version B) RF connectors
• Ten SMB-to-BNC adapter cables included (50 Ohm)
– Key Features
• Cascadable topology — multiple 34905A modules can combine to create larger multiplexer configurations, such as a stubless 16:1 multiplexer within a single mainframe
• Modular form factor fits directly into 34970A/34972A module slots
• High isolation and low VSWR performance through tree-structured channel design
• Does not interface with the internal DMM of the host data acquisition unit
– Typical Applications
RF signal routing for multi-channel test systems; high-frequency pulsed signal switching; broadband instrumentation interconnect in automated test environments.
– Compatibility & Integration
Works with Agilent/HP 34970A and 34972A Data Acquisition/Switch Units. Includes functional test certificate and ten 50 Ohm SMB-to-BNC adapter cables.
