The HP/Agilent 53132A is a universal frequency counter delivering 12-digit resolution and 150 ps time interval measurement capability. Designed for demanding metrology, R&D, and production environments, it measures frequency from DC to 225 MHz on two standard channels with real-time digital signal processing and integrated statistical analysis. An optional third channel extends frequency measurement to 3 GHz, 5 GHz, or 12.4 GHz, accommodating RF and microwave applications.
## Technical Specifications
The instrument measures frequency, period, ratio, time interval, pulse width, rise/fall time, phase angle, duty cycle, totalize, and peak voltage. Frequency resolution reaches 12 digits per second across both channels. Time interval resolution is 150 ps. Input impedance selects between 1 MΩ or 50 Ω with AC or DC coupling. Input sensitivity ranges from 20 mVrms (DC to 100 MHz) to 40 mVrms (200–225 MHz), with dynamic range of 20 mV to ±5 Vac. A switchable 100 kHz low-pass filter reduces noise; auto trigger level setting operates from 0 to 100% in 10% steps.
The standard timebase maintains accuracy better than 3 × 10⁻⁷ per month. Optional oven timebases include medium stability (5 × 10⁻⁶ temperature stability, 4 × 10⁻⁸ per day aging), high stability (2 × 10⁻⁷ temperature stability, 5 × 10⁻¹⁰ per day aging), and ultra-high stability for the 53132A (2.5 × 10⁻⁹ temperature stability, 1 × 10⁻¹⁰ per day aging).
