The HP/Agilent 70905B RF Section is a front-end RF input module for the HP/Agilent 70000 modular measurement system, operating from 50 kHz to 22 GHz. It converts input signals to intermediate frequency (IF) for further processing via a broadband, low-noise mixer architecture. The module is optimized for high dynamic range measurements and designed for use with a preselector module such as the Agilent 70600A. Without an input attenuator, standalone operation is not recommended; however, in manufacturing environments with known signal characteristics, unpreselected operation can enhance sensitivity and amplitude flatness. The 70905B provides automatic signal identification routines for unknown frequencies and delivers a 21.4 MHz IF output. When tuned above 2.7 GHz, it supplies a 321.4 MHz output and accepts 321.4 MHz input for demodulation or detection of unpreselected signals. A first LO auxiliary output is available for integration with tracking generators and external mixer interface modules.

– Compatibility & Integration
The 70905B integrates into the HP/Agilent 70000 Modular Measurement System and requires a preselector module (e.g., Agilent 70600A) for standard operation. Compatible with HP/Agilent 70000 series IF sections including 70903A, 70911A, and 70902A. RF input uses Type-N (f) connector; 321.4 MHz output and input, plus first LO auxiliary output all employ SMA connectors.
