The HP/Agilent 8169A Polarization Controller enables precise synthesis and manipulation of optical polarization states across the C-band and extended L-band. Using zero-order waveplates and a high-performance linear polarizer, it generates all possible polarization states on the Poincaré sphere with ±0.09° accuracy. The instrument supports polarization-dependent loss (PDL) and polarization mode dispersion (PMD) measurement, polarization synthesis in optical research, and telecommunications applications requiring deterministic SOP control.
