HP / Agilent 8722C 40 GHz Microwave Network Analyzer

The HP/Agilent 8722C is a 40 GHz microwave network analyzer engineered for RF and microwave component characterization across research, manufacturing, and quality assurance. Operating from 50 MHz to 40 GHz with dual channels and an integrated test set, it measures all four S-parameters (S11, S21, S12, S22) via single-connection architecture. The synthesized internal source delivers ±1.5 dB power flatness with 0.01 dB resolution and 20 dB sweep range. A tuned receiver with variable-bandwidth IF filters provides dynamic range to 103 dB (optionally 105 dB). Fast-sweep capability enables measurement update rates near 1 ms per point. The instrument displays magnitude, phase, and group delay of transmission and reflection coefficients; supports impedance and insertion loss analysis; and includes optional time-domain response computation. Solid-state switching (Option 006) enables simultaneous forward/reverse measurement and continuous four-parameter updates for two-port error correction. High-power testing (Option H85) delivers up to 20 watts to the device under test. Mixer measurement (Option H89) and frequency-offset modes (Option 089) extend capability to frequency translators. A large color display supports independent dual-channel viewing, pass/fail testing, advanced markers, and configuration save/recall. Direct printer/plotter output streamlines documentation. HP-IB (IEEE 488) control is standard.
