The HP 3310B Function Generator is a precision signal generation instrument for electronic testing, circuit design, and laboratory applications. It produces seven waveform types—sine, square, triangle, positive pulse, negative pulse, positive ramp, and negative ramp—across a frequency range of 0.0005 Hz to 5 MHz in 10 decade ranges. The instrument delivers maximum output of >30 V p-p open circuit (>15 V p-p into 50 Ω) with a dynamic range exceeding 60 dB. Frequency dial accuracy reaches ±(1% of setting + 1% of full scale) from 0.0005 Hz to 500 kHz, with enhanced performance on sine, square, and triangle waveforms to 5 MHz. Sine wave distortion is <1% from 10 Hz to 50 kHz, and square wave rise and fall times are <30 ns at full output. Triangle and ramp waveforms maintain 4 V p-p into open circuit. Triggering capability supports external AC-coupled triggers (1 V p-p to 10 V p-p) with adjustable start/stop phase control over ±90°. Output impedance is 50 Ω with standard coaxial connectors for main outputs and external control inputs. The instrument is designed for engineers and technicians requiring flexible, accurate signal simulation across audio, RF, and precision measurement applications.
