The JDS Uniphase MOSW (MAP Optical Switch) is a modular optical switch engineered for high-performance network monitoring and automated test applications within the VIAVI Multiple Application Platform (MAP). Built on fourth-generation optical switch technology, the MOSW-C1 series delivers configurable optical signal routing with a compact footprint designed for integration into MAP chassis including the MAP-200, MAP-220C, MAP-230B, MAP-280, MAP-330, and MAP-380.
## Technical Specifications
• **Configuration Options:** 1xN architectures (1×4, 1×8, 1×12, 1×24), NxM matrix configurations (2×2), multiple independent switches per module (eight 1×2 in single-slot designs), and 4x1x2 configurations
• **Fiber Support:** Single-mode (SM) and multimode (MM) fiber—OM1 (62.5 µm core) and OM3 (50 µm core)
• **Wavelength Range:** 1270 nm to 1670 nm
• **Insertion Loss (IL):** Typically less than 0.7 dB across configurations
• **Return Loss (RL):** Greater than 57 dB
• **Polarization-Dependent Loss (PDL):** ≤ 0.04 dB; ±0.005 dB repeatability on single-input versions
• **Wavelength-Dependent Loss (WDL):** Negligible with expanded beam design
• **Connectors:** FC/APC and FC/PC options
## Key Features
• Modal transparency for multimode applications preserves mode profile and launch conditions per IEC specifications
• Fast optimized switching time with stabilization timing for measurement accuracy
• Input configurations in 1x, 2x (duplex), and 2x variants to support cost-effective system designs
• PTIM option enables in-line power measurement and programmable loss up to 20 dB on connected ports
• SCPI remote control interface with backward compatibility to MAP-200 style commands
## Typical Applications
Automated test systems, optical transmission technology development and manufacturing, network monitoring and signal routing in modular platform environments.
## Compatibility & Integration
