The JDS Uniphase OLP-55 is a handheld optical power meter for field installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic networks. It delivers precise measurements across singlemode and multimode systems using an InGaAs detector with auto-zeroing and dark current compensation. The instrument measures optical power from –60 dBm to +26 dBm across 800 nm to 1700 nm, with calibrated wavelengths at 850 nm, 1310 nm, 1550 nm, and 1625 nm. An auto-lambda function identifies wavelength automatically, eliminating manual setup errors and accelerating field testing. The OLP-55 supports simultaneous multi-wavelength measurements via TWINtest and TRIPLEtest modes, with an illuminated graphical display (128 × 64 dots) showing up to three results at once. Internal memory stores 1000 timestamped measurements; unlimited storage extends via USB memory sticks or host USB data storage. A reflection trap minimizes multiple reflections between adapter and photodiode for enhanced accuracy. The meter operates on two AA batteries (alkaline or rechargeable NiMH/NiCd) or via AC adapter, with automatic power-off after 20 minutes of inactivity. Universal Push-Pull adapter system accommodates 2.5 mm and 1.25 mm ferrules. The shock-proof, splash-proof design weighs approximately 500 g and measures 95 × 60 × 195 mm. USB connectivity enables remote operation, data transfer, and Excel-compatible report generation. Optional Visual Fault Locator (635 nm) is available. Available in general purpose, high sensitivity, and high power (+26 dBm) configurations.
