Keysight / Agilent / HP E1407A A/B to C-Size P1/P2 VXI/VME Active Adapter

The Keysight E1407A is a C-size VXI active adapter that bridges A- or B-size VXI/VME modules into C-size VXI mainframes. It provides active buffered extensions for P1 and P2 connectors, maintaining signal integrity across form factor transitions. Operating in slave-only mode, the E1407A cannot occupy Slot 0 or function as a bus master. The standard single-slot configuration expands to two-slot width with Option 010, connecting to the leftmost slot backplane.

– Compatibility & Integration

The E1407A enables integration of smaller-form-factor modules into larger C-size chassis. B-size multiplexer applications require specific analog bus cables due to connector spacing and positioning differences. Keysight supplies E1326-61611 (Analog Bus), E1411-61601 (Multiplexer-to-DMM for FET multiplexers), E1400-61605 (Multiplexer-to-Multiplexer), and E1411-80001 cable kits. The HP E1407A ships with short and long J2 connector cables.

Note: VME card operation within VXI mainframes through this adapter, while mechanically feasible for some designs, is not an officially supported configuration. System designers must verify compliance with VXI electrical and mechanical requirements.
