The National Optronics Horizon III is a CNC patternless lens edger delivering precision dry-cut processing for CR-39, polycarbonate, hi-index, and Trivex materials. The system eliminates water consumption, coolant waste, and odors while maintaining tight bevel geometry—no rounding occurs during the edging process. A 15,000 RPM DC brushless motor (1/3 HP) drives the cutting spindle with servo-controlled X and Y axes for computer-positioned bevels.
– Technical Specifications
• Type: CNC Patternless Lens Edger
• Cutting Technology: Dry-cut (no water or coolants)
• Compatible Materials: CR-39, Polycarbonate, Hi-Index, Trivex (excludes glass)
• Cutter Motor: 15,000 RPM, DC brushless, 1/3 HP
• Bevel Control: Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) placement via servomotors (X and Y axes)
• Job Memory: 184 stored jobs
• Power Supply: 120 V, 12.4 A (power stabilizer recommended)
• Compressed Air: 80 PSI clean supply required
• Data Interface: RS-232 cable (tracer-to-edger communication)
• Construction: Hard aluminum base with heavy-duty plastic covers
– Key Features
• Safety bevels (front, centered, back positioning)
• Base curve edging and integrated polishing
• No bevel rounding—sharp edges fit frame grooves tightly
• Eliminates water consumption, coolant disposal, and wastewater contamination
• Odor-free operation with high-index materials
• Six configurable monitor screens (job, setup, material, diagnostic, servo burn-in, polishing calibration)
– Typical Applications
Optical laboratory production environments requiring high-volume lens processing with minimal environmental impact. Suitable for single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lens edging.
– Compatibility & Integration
Pairs with National Optronics Saturn NP or 4T Tracer systems. Horizon III blades measure 1″ overall length with V-bottom positioned approximately 0.150″ from blade end.
