New Focus 8732

The New Focus 8732 is a multi-axis Picomotor controller/driver that manages up to 60 individual Picomotor actuators across multiple 3-axis mounts and stages. In standard configuration, it supports eight 3-axis mounts (up to 24 Picomotors), with expandable capacity to twenty 3-axis mounts. The controller delivers sub-nanometer positioning precision through < 30 nm resolution for standard Picomotors and < 100 nm for Tiny Picomotors, operating at speeds up to 5 rpm. It integrates multiple control interfaces—IEEE-488 (GPIB), RS-232, PS/2 keyboard, and analog/digital input lines—enabling both direct instrument control and integration with external systems. The 8732 accommodates 10 motor/option configurations and features synchronization lines for coordinated multi-axis motion. Standard 6-pin RJ-11 connectors interface with multi-axis mounts; single-axis mounts and micrometer replacement actuators require a Model 8601 adapter and 4-pin RJ-11 connectors.
