The NI 9977 is a blank C Series filler module designed to occupy unused slots in National Instruments CompactRIO and CompactDAQ chassis. This non-functional module maintains proper airflow circulation and preserves electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performance by sealing empty slots against debris and dirt ingress. By filling unoccupied positions, the NI 9977 contributes to overall chassis EMC performance while protecting internal components from contamination.

– Installation & Wire Routing
Wire routing method depends on gauge selection. For 12 AWG to 14 AWG conductors, route wires under the smallest strain-relief piece. For 16 AWG wire, position the small strain-relief piece on top with the large piece underneath. For 18 AWG to 24 AWG wire, route under the largest strain-relief piece. Secure assembly with screws after wire positioning.
– Compatibility & Integration
The NI 9977 is compatible with any chassis accepting C Series modules and pairs with analog input modules including the NI-9242. While the module itself is not EMC compliant, proper slot filling ensures the complete chassis maintains specified EMC performance by eliminating air gaps and blocking contaminant pathways.
