The NI PCI-1405 is a single-channel image acquisition module for PCI bus systems that captures and processes color and monochrome images from analog video sources in real time. Engineered for machine vision, scientific imaging, and quality control applications, it delivers precision analog video decoding with support for NTSC, PAL, RS-170, and CCIR standards. The module features 16 MB of onboard SDRAM, three independent DMA controllers with scatter-gather capability, and a 20 MHz (-3 dB) video input bandwidth. Real-time acquisition is controlled via software or external trigger (rising/falling edge), with programmable region-of-interest and gain/offset optimization. The PCI interface operates at a maximum transfer rate of 132 Mbytes/s (bus master mode) with sustained rates to 100 MB/s. One configurable external I/O line serves as trigger or digital I/O, while two BNC connectors provide video and digital I/O connectivity. The NI-IMAQ driver software eliminates low-level register programming and integrates with National Instruments DAQ products for advanced triggering and I/O control.
