The NI PC-DIO-96/PnP is a 96-channel digital I/O expansion board for ISA bus systems, delivering parallel digital input/output control via four Intel 82C55A Programmable Peripheral Interface (PPI) chips. Designed for industrial and laboratory data acquisition and control, this half-length, half-height card features Plug and Play installation, software-timed operation, and configurable port architecture. Each of the four 82C55A chips controls 24 bits organized into three 8-bit ports; Ports A and B handle digital data I/O while Port C supports data, control, status, and handshake signals. The board transfers data at up to 780 Kbytes/s and supports 2-wire handshaking, periodic interrupts via an integrated 82C53 counter/timer, and pattern matching.
