The NI PXI-2586 is a 10-channel, 12 A SPST Form A relay module for high-current switching in PXI chassis. Each of the 10 relays operates independently under full software control, supporting both 10-SPST and 5-DPST topologies. Field-replaceable relays with silver-nickel contacts deliver 1 × 10⁷ mechanical cycles. The module handles up to 300 V channel-to-channel and 300 V channel-to-ground (CAT II), with maximum AC switching power of 3 kVA. Relay operating time reaches 15.4 ms maximum, and the module recognizes trigger pulses as narrow as 150 ns. Channel-to-channel crosstalk measures ≤ -85 dB across a 10 kHz band. Housed in a compact 3U, single-slot PXI form factor, it draws 5 W at 5 V or 2.5 W at 3.3 V. The module connects via a 20-position Positronic GMCT series plug and supports PXI trigger lines 0–7. Operating temperature ranges from 0 °C to 55 °C with 10% to 90% noncondensing humidity. Operational shock tolerance is 30 g peak, half-sine, 11 ms pulse; vibration handling reaches 5 to 500 Hz at 0.3 g_rms during operation and 2.4 g_rms non-operating. DC path resistance remains typically low throughout relay life, rising above 100 mΩ only at end of life. Ideal for automated test systems in battery, power supply, and automotive testing where reliable high-current signal switching is essential.
