The Photonix PX-D603 FLASHdetector™ Leak Detection Set is a precision optical instrument for fault location in fiber optic networks. It detects infrared radiation emitted from splices, connectors, bends, damage, and open ports with pinpoint accuracy—even in bright ambient light. The kit pairs a 1310 nm laser source with a sensitive optical probe, enabling technicians to locate faults that traditional OTDR and endpoint testing may miss.
The system operates across single-mode and multi-mode fiber types at ST connector interfaces. The PX-C601 source outputs adjustable power from -3 dBm down to <-13 dBm with selectable modulation at 500 Hz, 2 kHz, 30 Hz, or CW modes. The PX-B603 probe delivers -60 dBm minimum sensitivity with a 20-degree view angle and dual audio/visual indication at 2 kHz detection frequency (500 Hz selectable). Probe operation runs 40 hours on AAA alkaline batteries or uses a single 1/2AA Lithium cell for extended runtime exceeding 100 hours. The laser source requires US 120 VAC 60 Hz input and provides 12 hours battery-backed operation with NiMH cells.
Both units feature rugged aluminum construction and operate across -5°C to 45°C ambient conditions. The kit meets U.S. Navy specifications and includes a two-year warranty.
