The Rohde & Schwarz URV5-Z7 is a high-impedance RF probe for voltage, level, and power measurements across RF circuits from 20 kHz to 1 GHz. Its 2.5 pF input capacitance enables virtually load-free measurements on non-coaxial circuits, with extension to 1 GHz when appropriate accessories are deployed. Plug-on dividers extend the voltage range to 1000 V while reducing input capacitance to 0.5 pF. The probe delivers 10–100× greater dynamic range than active high-impedance probes, allowing higher voltage measurements at equivalent sensitivity.
– Technical Specifications
• Frequency range: 20 kHz to 1 GHz
• Voltage measurement range: 200 µV to 10 V (direct); 10 V to 1000 V (with plug-on dividers)
• Input capacitance: 2.5 pF nominal; 0.5 pF with plug-on dividers
• Power measurement range: 1 nW (−60 dBm) to 200 W (+53 dBm) with appropriate adapters
• Dynamic range (modulated signals): Over 90 dB for spectrally pure sinusoids with unmodulated envelope (CW, FM, ϕM, GMSK, FSK)
– Key Features
• Waveform-dependent weighting: RMS calibration on sinusoids; peak-to-peak indication above 1 V; peak-value weighting for non-sinusoidal signals
• RMS measurement below 30 mV; Vpp/(2√2) above 1 V
• Superior dynamic range compared to active probes—enables extended voltage measurement without sacrificing sensitivity
• Compact form factor suitable for laboratory and field deployment
• Comprehensive grounding and tip accessories (hook tip, solder tip, ground cable with clip, ground sleeve, ground strip)
• BNC T adapter included for system integration
– Typical Applications
• Non-coaxial RF circuit measurements up to 500 MHz (up to 1 GHz with accessories)
• High-voltage RF measurements using plug-on dividers
• Terminated power measurements with 50 Ω (URV-Z50) or 75 Ω (URV-Z3) adapters
• Modulated signal characterization on CW, FM, ϕM, GMSK, and FSK sources
– Compatibility & Integration
Compatible with Rohde & Schwarz URV5, URV55, URY, URVD, NRVD, and NRVS series instruments. Also works with any member of the Rohde & Schwarz power meter and voltmeter families.
