The Tektronix DTGM21 is a 4-channel single-ended output module that expands the signal generation capabilities of Tektronix DTG5000 series data timing generators. Each channel delivers independent analog outputs with SMA connectors, optimized for higher amplitudes into 50 Ω loads. The module features selectable source impedance (50 Ω / 23 Ω), tri-state output control via SMB input, and external jitter injection capability (DC to 250 MHz). It replaces the discontinued DTGM20.
– Technical Specifications
Output amplitude ranges from 0.03 to 1.25 Vpk-pk (5 mV steps) into 50 Ω loads, and 0.06 to 2.5 Vpk-pk into 1 MΩ. With 50 Ω source impedance, amplitudes extend to 3.9 Vpk-pk and 7.8 Vpk-pk respectively. Output voltage window spans −2 V to 2.47 V into 50 Ω, and −2 V to 7 V into 1 MΩ. DC accuracy is ±3% of set value ±50 mV into 50 Ω to GND. Maximum output current reaches ±80 mA with overshoot <10% typical at 1 V high / 0 V low.
Slew rate control spans 0.65 V/ns to 1.3 V/ns into 50 Ω. All four channels support 1 ps delay resolution and 5 ps width resolution. Data rates scale with mainframe selection: 750 Mb/s in DTG5078, 2.7 Gb/s in DTG5274, and 3.35 Gb/s in DTG5334. For semiconductor characterization, the module supports up to 1.1 Gb/s.
Jitter performance in the DTG5078 at 750 Mb/s (0.8 Vpk-pk, 0 ns delay) measures <4 psRMS random jitter and <18 psRMS / <85 pspk-pk total jitter. External jitter injection accepts −0.5 V to +0.5 V typical (−1 V to +1 V maximum).
