The Tektronix VX4223 is a VXIbus universal timer/counter module delivering precision measurement across frequency, period, time interval, totalize, ratio, pulse width, rise/fall time, and phase applications. Designed for integration into VXIbus systems operating under Slot 0 Resource Manager control and compliant with VXIbus System Specification Version 1.3, the module combines wide measurement ranges with flexible triggering and external reference capabilities.

Frequency Measurement
• Input A: Up to 160 MHz
• Input B: Up to 100 MHz
• Input C (Option 01): 40 MHz to 1.3 GHz

Period Measurement
• Input A: 6.25 ns to 1700 s
• Input B: 10 ns to 1700 s

Time Interval Measurement
• Separate Mode (A start, B stop): 5 ns to 800,000 s
• Common Mode (A start and stop): 5 ns to 800,000 s
• Input A isolated measurement: 5 ns to 20 ms

Totalize
• Total A by B, Total B by A, Manual Totalize: Up to 10¹² events

Ratio
• Ratio A/B: Frequency ratio measurement
• Ratio C/B: Available with Option 01

Additional Measurements
• Pulse Width: 5 ns minimum interval (rising to falling or falling to rising edges)
• Rise/Fall Time: Selectable slope measurement
• Phase: Phase A relative to B, Phase B relative to A

• Math Function: (Result = X) × Y calculations where Result is measured and X, Y are user-defined constants
• Automatic or user-defined input trigger level setting with attenuation adjustment
• TTL-compatible gate signal output to TTLTRG bus (low = gate open)
