The Teledyne LeCroy Ethertest-CP (Model 2014-21000-000) is a portable Ethernet LAN analyzer that captures and analyzes network traffic without interfering with network operation. This non-intrusive tap operates invisibly on the network—it does not appear as a node, disrupt auto-negotiation, or alter speed and duplex settings. Unlike standard NICs, the Ethertest-CP captures both valid and malformed Ethernet frames, providing complete visibility into network behavior.
The analyzer timestamps packets with microsecond precision and connects via USB, eliminating the need for external power. A Permanent Network Link feature ensures network connectivity persists even if USB power is lost. The device is Power over Ethernet (PoE) compatible and forwards PoE power to connected end devices, simplifying field deployment in resource-constrained environments.
