The Teledyne Roper Scientific Photometrics CoolSNAP ES is a monochrome CCD camera designed for high-sensitivity scientific imaging. Built around an interline, progressive-scan sensor with 1392 × 1040 pixels and 6.45 µm pitch, it delivers 12-bit digitization at 20 MHz readout speed with exceptionally low 8 e− rms read noise. The camera achieves a 100 ms frame readout time and supports flexible binning to trade resolution for sensitivity, with full well capacity of 15,000 e− (single pixel) or 30,000 e− (2×2 binned). Thermoelectric cooling maintains the sensor at −30°C, yielding dark current of only 0.05 e−/p/s. Electronic shuttering eliminates vibration and enables fast triggering. High quantum efficiency, particularly in the near-infrared spectrum, makes it ideal for low-light fluorescence microscopy, bioluminescence imaging, and demanding research applications requiring extended integration times.
