Operating with intrinsically-safe circuitry and dual fail-safe current limiting networks, the instrument prevents test currents from exceeding specified failsafe levels even under worst-case component failure. Certified for MIL-STD 810 Method 511 and approved by the US Military and Government Safety Board, it delivers precision resistance measurement across configurable ranges with 1 mΩ resolution up to 200 MΩ.

The Alpha 4314 performs 4-wire Kelvin resistance testing with configurable range selection from nine available options: 2Ω, 20Ω, 200Ω, 2kΩ, 20kΩ, 200kΩ, 2MΩ, 20MΩ, and 200MΩ. Standard configuration includes four ranges: 20Ω, 200Ω, 2kΩ, and 20kΩ. The 20MΩ and 200MΩ ranges are available only in standard current configuration.
Standard configuration test current limits to 16 mA maximum failsafe. The KRC (Reduced Current) option limits failsafe current to 8 mA maximum, accommodating sensitive detonators and explosive devices.
