Equipment info

The Wavetek 2001 is a versatile sweep/signal generator spanning 1 to 1400 MHz across three overlapping bands. It delivers continuous-wave, swept, and delta-frequency operation across laboratory, service, and production environments. The instrument combines broad frequency coverage with flexible modulation, remote control capability, and modular marker provisions—all within a compact 50 Ω output stage designed for reliable, repeatable measurements.

– Technical Specifications

• +10 dBm to −80 dBm (or +9 dBm to −81 dBm)
• 70 dB range in 10 dB steps with 20 dB vernier control
• Output impedance: 50 Ω; VSWR ≤1.3:1
• Output accuracy: ±0.5 dB to 500 MHz; ±1 dB to 1 GHz; ±2 dB to 1.4 GHz
• Spurious signals: At least 26 dB below output (10–1400 MHz)

Operating Modes
• Continuous Wave (CW)
• Start/Stop sweep
• Delta-frequency (Δf) sweep
• Manual, triggered, repetitive, line-lock, end-to-end, and up/down sweep modes
• Sweep rate: Less than 10 ms to over 100 seconds (adjustable)
• Sweep width: 50 kHz to 500 MHz or 200 kHz to 1000 MHz (externally controllable via voltage)
• Retrace blanking: Selectable on/off

Modulation
• Optional 1 kHz square-wave AM: Up to 100% modulation
• FM deviation: ±250 MHz at rates to 4 kHz; reduced deviation and linearity to 100 kHz
