The WinSystems PCM-UIO48A-8 is a PC/104-compliant universal 48-point digital I/O module engineered for industrial data acquisition, process control, and automation systems requiring flexible real-time event handling. Built on the WinSystems WS16C48 ASIC High Density I/O Chip, it delivers 48 bidirectional digital I/O lines in a compact 3.60″ × 3.80″ form factor. Each line operates in Input, Output, or Output with Readback mode with 12 mA sink current and TTL compatibility.
The module’s defining capability is event-driven interrupt processing. Twenty-four of the 48 lines support digital edge transition detection—both rising and falling edges—with software-programmable polarity and individual interrupt enable. Detected changes are latched and signaled via interrupt, eliminating the need for continuous polling. Interrupt identification registers pinpoint the exact transitioning port and bit, enabling rapid response to time-critical events.
